Overview

The Haa Summer Festival is a unique cultural event held annually in the Haa Valley, one of Bhutan’s most picturesque and least commercialized regions. Typically organized in the summer months (around late June or early July), the festival offers a rare opportunity for visitors to experience the traditional lifestyle and culture of the Haa Valley, which is known for its pristine landscapes and remote, rural charm.

Tour Inclusive and Exclusive

  • All the required permits and paperwork
  • Down jacket, all-season sleeping bag, duffel bag and trekking map(in case if you don’t have your own. Down jacket, sleeping bag and duffel bag must be returned after completion of the trip)
  • First Aid Medical Kit(Your guide will carry the Medical Kit but we also advise to bring yourself for your own use, as far as possible)
  • Food all along the trip(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and a cup of coffee or tea) and accommodations during the trip in hotels with family environment
  • Pick-up or Drop-off service from and to Airport(in our own vehicle)
  • Transportation to and from!!

Tour Plan

Arrival in Paro – Transfer to Thimphu

  • Arrive at Paro International Airport and transfer to Thimphu (approximately 1.5 hours by car).
  • Explore Thimphu’s local attractions such as Tashichho Dzong, the Buddha Dordenma, and the National Memorial Chorten.
  • Overnight in Thimphu.

Thimphu to Haa

  • Early morning drive to Haa Valley (approximately 2.5 to 3 hours).
  • On the way, stop at Chele La Pass, the highest motorable point in Bhutan, for breathtaking views of the Himalayas.
  • Reach Haa Valley, settle in your accommodation, and explore the local surroundings.
  • Overnight in Haa.

Haa Summer Festival

  • Attend the Haa Summer Festival and enjoy performances of traditional dances, archery competitions, and craft exhibitions.
  • Taste Bhutanese traditional foods and interact with local artisans.
  • Overnight in Haa.

Rural Activities and Sightseeing

  • Experience horseback riding or take part in other traditional rural activities.
  • Visit Haa Dzong, a peaceful and less-visited dzong with significant cultural importance.
  • Optionally, explore the Nunnery Temple and learn about Bhutanese Buddhist practices.
  • Overnight in Haa.

Return to Thimphu

  • Drive back to Thimphu in the morning.
  • Spend the afternoon visiting sites you might have missed earlier, such as Tashichho Dzong, the National Textile Museum, and the Weekend Market.
  • Overnight in Thimphu.

Thimphu to Paro – Departure

  • Drive to Paro (approximately 1.5 hours) and visit Rinpung Dzong and the National Museum of Bhutan.
  • Optionally, take a short hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest).
  • Transfer to Paro International Airport for your flight.
